$500,000 Award For Architect Malpractice

Plaintiff hired the Defendant Architect to prepare and file the appropriate plans for a six family residence in Queens County. After months of delay, the Architect filed plans for the residence however the zoning law had changed disallowing the proposed construction. The law firm of SILER & INGBER, LLP commenced action on behalf of the property owner against the Architect for negligence and malpractice, in particular the Defendant's failure to exercise the degree of skill commonly exercised by ordinary members of the architect community. The Defendant's deviation from the acceptable standards of architectural practice resulted in damages to the Plaintiff. The Plaintiff hired numerous experts in preparing this case for trial. On the eve of trial, New York attorney, Ronald D. Ingber, negotiated a settlement in the sum of $500,000.
